Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering, Government Polytechnic, Jajpur. The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 1999. The department runs one undergraduate programme leading to a bachelor's of technology (B. Tech) degree in electrical engineering, one post-graduate programme leading to a master's of technology (M. Tech) degree in Power Electronics and Drive. It aims at producing qualified engineers in the areas of electrical machine, power electronics, control system, power system, and instrumentation. The field of Electrical and electronics is advancing at a very rapid pace. Power electronics has taken the center stage in every area be it power systems, control systems, power quality, etc. The department is well equipped with a group of highly qualified and dynamic teachers. It boasts of laboratory facility to be one of the best in the state. The students are encouraged and motivated to take up challenging projects. Summer training, industrial visit and projects are carefully planned for the students to remain updated with the technology trend. Seminars and short courses are regularly organized to update the students with the latest in the education and industry trends.

Electrical engineering offers programs in both electrical and electronics domain and provides wide range of fundamental scientific knowledge. The well qualified and experienced faculties have taken up the dare developing competent electrical engineers capable of facing the emerging challenges. Keeping in line with fast changing technologies, this department comes up with well equipped laboratories for developing the practical knowledge they need and follows outcome based education curriculum. To develop entrepreneur skills and to equip students with innovation and creativity, Electrical engineering department has first taken priority in imparting a friendly learning environment.

The department has the following well equipped labs to cater the needs of the diploma students

  • Digital ETC & microprocessor lab

Vision of Electrical Engineering Department 

  • To offer good quality education & research in Electrical Engineering.
  • To provide the knowledge base and consultancy services to the rural and weaker section of the society for their upliftment and well-being.
  • To bridge the gap between industry and academia by framing curricula and syllabi based on industrial and societal needs.
  • To become a front-runner in bringing out globally competent electrical engineers, innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs and thereby contribute value to the knowledge-based economy and society.

To prepare an effective, dynamic, competent electrical engineers who are able to contribute optimally to the growing nation whilst maintaining solid social responsibility as well.

Mission of Electrical Engineering Department

  • To enhance knowledge and skills of students in science, technology and human behavior that will serve the nation.
  • To create an ambience for new idea, research, innovation and entrepreneurial attitude, with a high level of ethics, communication and leadership qualities.
  • To develop ability and passion to work wisely, creatively, and effectively in each member of college for the betterment of the mankind and all living beings. 

To provide best possible resources to achieve excellence in teaching – learning process and bridge the gap between industry and academia by creating a conducive atmosphere where students can thrive and prosper.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PEO1- To identify the problems and solving them by applying fundamentals of of basic science, mathematics and engineering.

PEO2 - To have the attitude towards learning and adopting new technologies to cope with industrial issues.

PEO3- To be professional with the ability to work as a team member with leadership quality, good communication skills and competence to excel individually.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO)

PO1(engineering knowledge)- apply the knowledge of mathematics , science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2(problem analysis)- an ability to identify and analyze a problem, and formulate complex engineering problems using principles of mathematics, basic and engineering sciences.

PO3(design/ development of solutions) – an ability to design, implement and evaluate a computer based system, process, competent or program to meet the desired needs for the appropriate consideration for public safety, societal and environmental issues.

PO4(communications) – communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with engineering community and with society at large , such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentations, make effective presentations give and receive clear instructions.

PO5 (project management and finance)– demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply those to ones work , as a member and leader in a team to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO6(Modern tool usage): Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO7(The engineer and society): Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO8(Environment and sustainability): Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO9(Ethics): Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO10 (Lifelong learning)- recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning and broadest context of technological changes.

PO11 (Individual And Team Work): Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multi disciplinary settings.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSO)

PSO1- Apply effective knowledge of the electrical engineering domain in the context of environmental & social concerns.

PSO2- Graduates will be motivated for continuous life-long learning along with leadership skills.

PSO3- Demonstrate proficiency in use of software and hardware to be required to to practice electrical; engineering profession.

PSO4- Design, develop and implement electrical & electronics projects to meet the demands of industries and to provide solutions to the current real time problems.
